THE SIX PONDS

The Six Ponds is a rural residential community in south Plymouth defined by its natural setting among six bodies of water, west of Route 3, south of Myles Standish State Forest. The neighborhood roughly covers 12 square miles, southwest of Plymouth South High School. The ecology of the area is that of forested “pine barrens”. Aside from the six ponds that characterize this neighborhood, there are additional smaller, “kettle ponds”: glacier-created ponds that are fed by groundwater, rather than streams and rivers.
