LONG POND

Long Pond is a 227 acre pond with an average depth of 45 feet and a maximum depth of 111 feet. It is located southeast of Myles Standish State Forest and west of Route 3. The pond's 3.3 miles of shoreline are heavily developed with both year-round and summer homes. The pond is primarily fed by groundwater that enters via an inlet stream from Little Long Pond and drains through the pond bottom.

The Massachusetts Division of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages a concrete boat ramp and parking area for 29 trailers located on the northern end of the pond. A 50 horsepower limit on outboard motors is enforced by the Town of Plymouth. Sailboat races take place every summer weekend.

The following fish species have been found during MassWildlife surveys: smallmouth bass, white perch, pumpkinseed, bluegill, banded killifish, brown bullhead, largemouth bass, yellow perch, white sucker and American eel. Long Pond is stocked in the spring and fall with rainbow trout, brook trout, brown trout, and tiger trout.
